The Opportunity
- Focused on the West Bank, the GRIT project recognizes the capacity and tenacity of Palestinian women, including women with disabilities, and seeks to reduce barriers to help them achieve their educational and career goals.
- Niagara College partnered with the GRIT project to provide extensive training and personal linkages for a select group of TVET leaders from the West Bank.
- This hands-on training session, taking place at our Niagara College campuses, was designed to:
- Build management skills
- Develop new approaches to pedagogy
- Build lasting relationships between Niagara College staff and our sister institutions in the West Bank
Our Approach
- Developed a ‘Customized International Knowledge Exchange Program’ – an intensive five-day applied leadership and management workshop, including social activities.
- Designed program outcomes to integrate with the specific needs and challenges faced by the participants.
- Offered participants opportunities to work with numerous areas across the College including:
- Academic Areas
- Career Services
- Career and Co-op Services
- Sustainability
- Global Education Projects
- Health, Wellness & Accessibility Services
- International Student Services
- Research & Innovation
- School of Trades
- Aimed to enhance networking and build relationships among the participants and the Niagara College community.
- Delivered key applied sessions including:
- Culture of Applied Learning and Innovation at Niagara College
- Equity, Diversity and Inclusion
- Student-Centered Learning
Partner Outcomes and Success
- 10 leaders from the West Bank TVET system were provided with customized interactive sessions and a partner network of colleagues on gender equity, diversity and inclusion in the Skilled Trades sector.
- The program participants received a Statement of Participation upon completion of the program.
